About/ Maidir Linne

Meitheal Eitseála (est. 2010) is a group of professional artists in the West Kerry area working in Fine Art Printmaking.

Meitheal (Irish pronunciation: [ˈmɛhəl]) is thIrish word for a work team, gang, or party where groups of neighbours help each other in turn with farming work, such as harvesting crops. Meitheal is the Irish expression of the ancient and universal appliance of cooperation to social need.

Sé aidhm an Mheithil Eitseála ná priontáil a chur chun cinn mar ealaíon agus tacaíocht a thabhairt do ealaíontóirí agus do phriontálaithe tré stiúideo gairmiúil a chur ar fáil dóibh. Teastaíonn ón Meitheal tionscnaimh agus taispeántaisí a fhorbairt agus ár gclár oideachais a leathnú. Tá sé ar intinn againn scéim a bhunú do ealaíontóirí ó áiteanna eile chun teacht anseo agus a chuid saothair a fhorbairt.

Is stiúideo dhá-theangach atá ag Meitheal Eitseála.

Meitheal Eitseála is committed to promoting printmaking as an art form and to supporting visual artists and printmakers by providing a professional, open access printmaking studio. We are committed to developing projects and exhibitions and to continue and expand our education programme. We aim to establish an international artist residency program in the future.

Meitheal Eitseála is a dual language studio.

Stair/ History

Bunaíodh an Meitheal Eitseála sa bhliain 2010 chun ceardlann priontála a chur ar fáil d’ealaíontóirí i gCorca Dhuibhne. Niall Naessens an múinteoir a bhí againn agus is ina stiúideo féin i Lios na Caolbhaí a bhí na ranganna.

Meitheal Eitseála was set up in 2010 to provide printmaking workshops for artists in Corca Dhuibhne. Niall Naessens generously opened his own studio in Brandon to the project while also taking on the role of instructor for 10 artists. At the end of the season funding was made available by Ealaín na Gaeltachta to show the work during Féile na Bealtaine , Dingle , in 2011.

Meitheal Eitseála did a second season of workshops with Niall Naessens during the winter of 2011-2012, this time with double the number of artists. Again there was an exhibition of work during Féile na Bealtaine.
