Lisbeth Mulcahy – Committee Chair, Meitheal Eitseála
Lisbeth Mulcahy has been making images in woven tapestry since the 1980s as a natural progression from her work in textile design. She is a member of and has exhibited with CTA (Contemporary Tapestry Artists) most lately in 2011. During the years 2005-2010 she made 15 large tapestries to commission by the Department of Foreign Affairs. Her work has been commissioned by the OPW, Eircom and Kerry Group PLc. and she has work in private and corporate collections in Ireland and abroad. The formation of Meitheal Eitseála in 2010 gave her the opportunity to achieve a long time ambition to work in print making. She took part in two exhibitions of work by members of Meitheal Eitseála in 2011 (Laistíos don gCnoc) and 2012 (Pláta Te). Lisbeth is currently working towards a touring exhibition in 2013-14 with Kate Buckley, an Irish print maker based in New Zealand and will exhibit with CTA again in 2013.
Lisbeth Mulcahy was on the board of Siamsa Tíre Arts Centre and the National Folk Theatre of Ireland for thirteen years up to 2009. She was chairman for the last three years. From 2000 to 2009 she worked with the Irish Museum of Modern Art to provide an annual exhibition of work from the museum’s collection during Féile na Bealtaine, the Dingle Arts Festival. She has been living in Chorca Dhuibhne since 1975.
