Black Church Print Studio Exhibition | Call for Submissions

Deadline for entries: 5th April at 5pm

Circulation
Curated by Paul McAree

Black Church Print Studio invite applications for Circulation, an exhibition to be held at both Monster Truck Gallery and FLOOD in August 2013.

Curated by Paul McAree, the exhibition will focus on ideas around modes of ‘production’ and ‘distribution’, with a particular interest in artists whose work uses an economy of means to question and look at social or political themes. The exhibition will involve artists who use easily available and cheap means of production – such as leaflets, photocopies, posters, printmaking, flyers, collage – to look at and subvert an approach to social or political issues, while at the same time displaying an awareness of and relationship to art historical practices.

In a twist to the open submission process and the very nature of the theme, no work will be refused and every proposed work will be displayed, even if it is the proposal itself that is displayed.

The income from the submission process will be in turn used to fund a publication documenting the process and exhibition, and feature all artists in the show. The size of the publication will be determined by the number of proposals received.

The exhibition will also feature three invited artists to weave a thread throughout the overall show and provide a clarity to what will be a dense exhibition of artworks by many artists.

Open submission process: submission fee of €15; deadline for entries 5pm, Friday 5th April 2013; please see www.print.ie for further details.
