Inspiration for Urban Soup

Edwin Ryan will be giving a workshop in linocut printmaking on Monday 7th October and has very kindly decided to give each participant a print of his own to take away with them at the end of the day! Thank you Ed! There are still a couple of places left, call now 087 6553538 or email

This is based on an early sketch I did inspired by a Fox that used to go through the front gardens between 1 & 2.30am every night… the original inspiration for the whole Urban Soup series, mad the stuff that gets me thinking !

Urban Soup

Meitheal Eitseála are delighted to host the exhibition ‘Urban Soup’ at our studio on John St. during this years Dingle Peninsula Food & Wine Festival. (4th – 6th October) The artist, Edwin Ryan will also be giving a workshop in linocut printmaking on Monday 7th October.

About Edwin Ryan

Edwin Ryan has worked with leading Irish artists John Behan, Micheal Warren, and Conor Fallon as well as being involved in the production of major pieces by Oisin Kelly and Yann Goulet during his time at Dublin Art Foundry. His work has appeared at Royal Hibernian Academy and the Oireachtas Annual Art Exhibition amongst others as well as many private collections. (Ryan also works creating film sets which you have no doubt seen on the big and the small screen over the years. )

About Urban Soup

From the primordial soup to the urban soup – a series of images exploring the impact of the urban environment on both humans and animals, both of which must significantly adapt to inhabit its confines. Humans and wildlife living side by side, urban soup hopes to blend both experiences in a hearty broth whose ingredients include thoughts on homelessness, fear, feelings of displacement, awakenings and escape.

All the prints are from hand cut lino blocks and are printed using environmentally friendly inks on where ever possible recycled papers and will be exhibited without frames or glass… there’s already too much packaging in the world as it is.
